At the hospital, Daniel pulls Carly aside to talk with her. She still will not tell him why she is so concerned about Melanie. Daniel tells her she can confide in him. They go back a long time and they are friends. The conversation turns to Daniel thanking Carly for introducing him to Rebecca, his first wife. He still misses her, but is glad that Chloe is in his life now.
Later, at the Brady pub, Daniel runs into Melanie. When she calls Carly crazy, Daniel takes offense and tells Melanie that Carly is a respected doctor. He doesn't want to hear her call Carly crazy again. He asks her if she understands. She backs down and says ok. Daniel goes on to ask Melanie to cut Carly some slack. Melanie balks at the idea and proceeds to tell Daniel it really is none of his concern either before exiting the pub.
Daniel is still at the Brady pub when Chloe arrives for their break date. . He surprises her with hard to get tickets for an opera in Chicago. She is thrilled. He senses that she is upset, but Chloe doesn't want to spoil the moment. Daniel encourages her to talk with him and he will help take care of whatever is wrong. After all he would slay dragons for her.
