Daniel and Melanie wait at the Horton Town Square to meet Maggie. Daniel shows Melanie the card he bought for his mom. When Maggie arrives Daniel hides the card, smiles at Maggie and gives her a warm hug. Daniel has let down his guard around Maggie and has now become more receptive that she is his Mom. Daniel still struggles with his hand tremors. He is shaking when he tries to take a picture of Melanie and Maggie by the Christmas tree. He begs off shopping and goes to see Lexie. Lexie tells him that he does not have MG. Daniel remains puzzled as to what is causing his hands to shake.
He confides in Lexie and asks her to take him out of surgical rotation. He worries his surgical career has ended. Lexie vows to help him and reassigns his surgical cases. When Daniel meets back up with Melanie and Maggie at the Brady Pub, he catches them trying to hide a gift for him. Maggie concedes and gives him his gift. It is a pair of cuff links, engraved with the insignia of Medicine. Daniel is overwhelmed by the sentiment and hugs both Melanie and Maggie.
